PENGON/Anti-Apartheid Wall Campaign Call to Action on the occasion of the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice which will be issued on July 9th, at 3:00pm in the Hague. The Campaign calls upon all seekers of justice and friends of Palestine to act in solidarity with our struggle against the Apartheid Wall and Israeli occupation, and to remain critical and expose the political implications of the ICJ decision - whatever its content may be - to support us in raising up the Palestinian voice to the world's public opinion. Relevant Documents The Illegality of South Africa's Occupation of Namibia In 1971, after years of South Afican Occupation, and countless UN resolutions the ICJ heard the case for the "Legal Consequences of the Continued Presence of South Africa in Namibia." After deliberations the ICJ found the continued Occupation of Namibia to be illegal under International law. Shortly thereafter the international community imposed sanctions on the Apartheid State. Subsequent International isolation, economic sanctions and diplomatic pressure supported the South African Anti-Apartheid Movement in its struggle against a racist and colonialist regime and have brought South African Apartheid to an end. June 30th, 2004 The Occupation's High Court ruled against 30 kms of
the Wall’s path that is to be built in 7 villages Northwest
Jerusalem, demanding that the Occupation Military propose new maps
that will be based on "the proper balance between security and
humanitarian considerations..." Today, the Court sought to give
the impression that security should not be achieved at the expense of
people's lives. Instead, it ordered that the military return with a
better version of the Wall, an Apartheid Wall whose very goal is to
encircle, imprison, and strangulate the Palestinian population. All
possible versions of such a "project" leaves people
percentages of their lands illegally taken by the Occupation, while
enlarging the enclaves in which they are confined. [More]Photos Ar Ram Protest Against Apartheid Wall On Saturday June 26th, a popular demonstration, consisting of 1000s of Ar Ram residents, protesting the impending destruction of their lives and livlihoods by the Apartheid Wall, was violently crushed by Occupation forces before it could even begin. Demonstrators had barely left the Ar Ram crossroads, when waiting Occupation soldiers opened fire with barrages of tear gas, and concussion grenades, and later bringing in a water cannon.
